Melisma Hat

The Melisma Hat’s elegant cables twirl and flow up from the ribbed brim like lines of melody and, with only a handful of cable crosses on alternating rounds, it makes for a quick and satisfying knit. The matching Melisma Scarf is also available separately.

  • US 7 / 4.5mm circular needles 16”/40cm in length (or needle size that gives you the right gauge) and the same size needles for working a small circumference in the round

  • US 6 / 4mm circular needles 16”/40cm in length (or one size smaller than your main needles) for working the ribbing

  • You will also need a cable needle, an end-of-round stitch marker, 2 (3) stitch markers for between repeats (optional), and a tapestry needle for weaving in the ends

Finished Measurements

  • Sizes 1 (2), relaxed and unstretched after blocking:
    11.5 (15)”/28.5 (38)cm brim circumference, and
8.5 (9)”/21.5 (23)cm long from brim to crown

  • To fit head circumference: 18-20 (22-24)”/46-51 (56-61)cm

  • Sample is shown in size 2 on my 22”/56cm circumference head. Note that this hat is very stretchy due to the large amount of 2x2 ribbing.
